Stage 1 is the all around rain wheel and the first one you should have in your quiver. Works great in straight and sideways (progressive edges) and provide lots of water removal.
Stage 3 is the equivalent of the Stage 2 but for tracks with more turns than straights. (progressive edges).
Stage 4 is the fastest wheel for patchy/dry tracks, less water removal than other stages but more the traditional pattern (3D grooves). It will keep its integrity and feel close to a regular (non-modified) wheel.
