They function, but not always
You can only use these rethreader dies if the thread on your kingpin and/or axle is not too heavily damaged. When the thread is showing a lot of damage, then these things are not going to miraculously repair your trucks. For that, you're going to need some fancier tools. For minor nicks and smaller damages these things work fine, though.
