In the late 60s, Jerry Madrid shaped his first surfboards in the garage of his parents' home in Southern California. However, when the waves weren't cooperating, he preferred to build skateboards to ride with his friends. In 1976, while still working as a firefighter, he founded his own company with the support of his brothers Jim and Jeff.

In the wild 80s, Madrid revolutionized the skateboard scene with some of the first modern concave boards on the market and forged unforgettable partnerships, such as the Madrid x Valterra skateboard, which was even rocked by Marty McFly in the cult film "Back to the Future". Or the legendary Vans x Madrid Fly shoes - the very first collaborative skate shoes from Vans and Madrid. And as if that wasn't enough, Madrid even made an appearance in the hugely successful Netflix series "Stranger Things".
