History

Billabong was founded in 1973 by surfer and board-shaper Gold Merchant and his partner Rena. He started by making Billabong boardshorts at home, then he was trying to sell them in local surf shops. Surfers community fell quickly in love with them and picking them above other brands.

Besides using good and sustainable materials, Billabong is a non-profit, meaning that they fund many programs to help educate their communities about the environment. They also fund other programs and organizations, all in the name of making the world a better place.
