The story of Dogtown dates back to the 1970s in Venice, California. A group of young surfers and skaters, including Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta, were recruited by local surf shop owners as team riders and called themselves the Z-Boys. One of them, Jim Muir, later founded the brand Dogtown with his friend Wes Humpston.

In the 1980s, the brand became known for its innovative designs and support of the skate scene, including notable team riders such as Tony Hawk and Christian Hosoi. Today, Dogtown remains loyal to the skate culture and continues to prioritize quality and design.
