The brand

Arbor prides itself on being the first action sports brand to specifically consider the environment in everything they do. In the 90s, they thought it was funny when people called Arbor that hippie brand. Back then, that wasn't a compliment. Those days are over, thanks to their customers, who understand that protecting the planet means taking care of our common playground.

History

Shortly after the launch of Arbor, they started converting old snowboards into large wheelbase skates, ideal for conquering hills when there was no snow. This led to the introduction of the skateboard line, and an expansion of sustainability efforts, and a discussion of their importance to action sports. With the skateboard line, they pioneered bio-urethane and expanded the use of recycled materials and responsibly sourced wood and bamboo. Arbor's mission is to create top-quality lifestyle skateboards with the smallest possible carbon footprint.

Sustainability

Since day one, The Arbor Collective has donated to groups that protect and restore forests. They call this program 'Returning Roots'. The donations go primarily to the preservation of Hawaii's Koa forests. Arbor has also been innovative in producing more sustainable wheels. Arbor has broken new ground with the Sucrose Initiative. This initiative reduces the amount of oil used to make longboard wheels, making them very environmentally friendly. The Arbor Collective is not only made up of factories and distributors.

The company works closely with passionate masterminds, enthusiastic craftsmen, artists, and of course team riders and friends who test all the decks.
